Welcome aboard. I'm in Oklahoma. I do my own services (plus a little tinkering now and again). I'd advise you to do 2 things:
1) Take Alfred's advice and go easy. Always let her warm up and check the oil. Change it and the filter AS SOON AS you get to 600 miles. Shift early until you get her broke in (keep RPMs low). You can look in the owners manual and get an idea of what speeds you should be shifting at (by the way, that was terrible English for those who don't normally speak it!.
2) The more you poke around in here, the more references you'll find to certains mods that most of us have done to one extent or another (carb, pipes, handle bars, etc....) I recommend that you talk with your dealer about what he finds acceptable or not acceptable in terms of honoring your warranty. If he says he can't do a thing to it, find one who'll let you. They are out there.
Lastly, I think you got a pretty good deal- did you get the $400 of free stuff? That was supposed to be a Suzuki-wide promo.... I paid 3800 for mine (a 99) in November of last year (before the promo!!!!). Anyway, have fun, stay on the forum, and let us know if you need anything or if YOU can help US out! (alot of things get hashed out on this forum by many differnt poits of view coming together in one spot!
Keep the Rubber Side Down,
-Jim
